My teammates and I have gathered some information after doing research on what is truly the meaning of nationalism. When you think about being patriotic and having love for your country no matter what it does, that's patriotism. It is safe to say that knowing the difference of both the terms patriotism and nationalism goes a long way.

Patriotism is being dedicated and showing love to your country.

Meanwhile, Nationalism is the feeling of superiority that holds one nation above others. It is an ideology or understanding that puts the country and the nation in a high place. Or who created and defended the sovereignty of a country. It places a national identity whether it be based on shared culture, religion, language or politics.

For the Malays, nationalism refers to their struggle to regain the superior position in their own country as before the arrival of the colonizers. The spirit of nationalism in Malaysia has been increasing and this can be seen when people started celebrating Independence Day every 31st August.

For our poems, we will be focusing on The Spirit Of Nationalism in Malaysia.
